SUMMARY:Ask Me Anything: The All of Us Research Program
DESCRIPTION:BCIL will be hosting a FREE Ask me Anything (AMA) event on the All of Us Research Program\, on March 31st at 2:00 PM via zoom. \nAll of Us is a historic effort to gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health. This effort is supported by a wide range of organizations like BCIL\, to bring diversity and inclusion to research.  As a partner\, our goal is to contribute to these efforts by providing opportunities to submit data that represents the diversity of the disability community. Healthcare is not once size fits all so let’s change the narrative! \nDuring the event\, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the program. Representatives from All of Us New England will join the event to answer your questions live.  To make the program most informative you also can submit your questions in advance during the registration process. \nTo register for this event and submit your questions please visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_HeIsDc0UQrirW7ExkP10_Q \nContact Jessica Podesva at jpodesva@bostoncil.org to request accommodations.

SUMMARY:Supported Decision Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Emily Berheide\, M.Ed.\, OTR/L\nHosted by BCIL Youth Services \nAs most adults know\, the transition to adulthood is a process that goes on for many years\, not something that magically happens when someone turns 18.  We learn best through practice (including sometimes making mistakes) and from talking to other trusted people in our lives who may be more knowledgeable on certain topics than we are. \n \n \nSupported Decision-Making is an approach that allows families to work together to create a plan that will allow the young person to gain skills and confidence in decision-making\, while relying on trusted “experts” for guidance and support along the way.  It is also an alternative to guardianship that allows youth to keep their rights while still having support. \n \nThis interactive workshop is an opportunity for teens and their parents to ask questions\, share experiences\, and learn about Supported Decision-Making. This session will be led by Emily Berheide\, M.Ed.\, OTR/L who is a transition consultant working for the Center for Public Representation to provide information about Supported Decision-Making to families.  Please check out this website to learn more about Supported Decision-Making: http://supporteddecisions.org. \nPlease email Kaitlyn Coppola\, kcoppola@bostoncil.org\, to register\, receive the Zoom link\, and request accommodations.
