SUMMARY:Learner’s Permit Prep Group: Study for Your Permit Test with BCIL!
DESCRIPTION:The Boston Center for Independent Living’s Transition to Adulthood Program is once again hosting our Learner’s Permit Prep Workshop series. This series will be 8 weeks of weekly study sessions\, where students can go through the MA Driver’s Manual with a facilitator\, as well as play review games and ask any driving-related questions they may have. \nEligibility: \n\nHigh school students\, ages 14-22 with a documented disability (i.e. Individualized Education Plan\, 504 plan\, other disability documentation). You are not required to submit your disability documentation to participate in this group.\n\nTo register\, click here. Students under 18 must have a parent signature in order to participate. \nStudents and families have the option to pick up physical MA Driver’s Manuals from the BCIL Downtown Crossing office at 60 Temple Place\, Boston. Individuals looking to pick up a physical manual should email ewalters@bostoncil.org to schedule a time for pickup. 15 books are available and an email will be sent out if all of the books are claimed. The goal of Participatory Budgeting in Boston is to empower residents to elevate community-centered project ideas with an emphasis on social and racial equity. \nBy engaging in Participatory Budgeting\, Bostonians of all ages and backgrounds can help inform priorities and future investments for the City’s larger budget process. \nWho can submit project ideas? \nALL City of Boston residents\, regardless of age\, can submit ideas! \nWhat type of ideas can you propose? \n\nProjects are limited to a one-time expense\, and do not create new permanent positions;\nProject proposals may include programs and services as well as physical infrastructure\n\nInfrastructure projects on private\, state\, or federal property are not eligible\, such as projects concerning the Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) or the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA).\nProject ideas related to programs and services in non-City owned facilities are eligible.\n\n\nProject ideas must be feasible to implement\, and be consistent with existing City policies\, laws\, regulations\, and the Participatory Budgeting Ordinance; and\nProjects must be implemented or managed by the appropriate City Department or agency receiving direct budget appropriations.\n\nOf note: Project ideas containing inappropriate\, offensive\, or derogatory language will be removed and not considered from the PB process. \nWhat are some examples of ideas? \nIdeas may include programs and services\, as well as physical infrastructure\, technological improvements\, and community enhancements. \n\nExamples of Eligible Ideas: Programming to strengthen mental health among Boston youth; Expanding the City’s Wicked Free WiFi network to reach more low-income areas; Digital literacy classes for senior citizens to learn new skills and promote social connections; Enhance public spaces through infrastructure projects (public art\, street trees\, benches\, etc.)\nExamples of Ineligible Ideas: Paying for the salary of a public employee to provide services; Repairing a privately owned building; Helping an organization renovate a space that it rents from a private landlord; Helping a religious institution repair its sanctuary; Increase the frequency of MBTA buses or trains.\n\nWhat is the timeline?\n\nJuly 1 – July 31\, 2024 – Idea Collection Campaign: Submit Your Ideas!\nVisioning Forums & Online Engagement     October – November 2024\nPublic Voting Period January 2025\nFebruary 2025 and Onward – Fund and Implement Project Proposal\n\nIf you are a City of Boston resident and would like to participate in this virtual meeting please register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEvc-Guqj0vHtA30ApBvCQ0EnpVVry1pnBK. \nADA reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities are available upon request. DESCRIPTION:The Boston Center for Independent Living’s Transition to Adulthood Program is once again hosting our Learner’s Permit Prep Workshop series. This series will be 8 weeks of weekly study sessions\, where students can go through the MA Driver’s Manual with a facilitator\, as well as play review games and ask any driving-related questions they may have. \nEligibility: \n\nHigh school students\, ages 14-22 with a documented disability (i.e. Individualized Education Plan\, 504 plan\, other disability documentation). You are not required to submit your disability documentation to participate in this group.\n\nTo register\, click here. Students under 18 must have a parent signature in order to participate. \nStudents and families have the option to pick up physical MA Driver’s Manuals from the BCIL Downtown Crossing office at 60 Temple Place\, Boston. Individuals looking to pick up a physical manual should email ewalters@bostoncil.org to schedule a time for pickup. 15 books are available and an email will be sent out if all of the books are claimed. DESCRIPTION:The Boston Center for Independent Living’s Transition to Adulthood Program is once again hosting our Learner’s Permit Prep Workshop series. This series will be 8 weeks of weekly study sessions\, where students can go through the MA Driver’s Manual with a facilitator\, as well as play review games and ask any driving-related questions they may have. \nEligibility: \n\nHigh school students\, ages 14-22 with a documented disability (i.e. Individualized Education Plan\, 504 plan\, other disability documentation).
