2026 ADA Day: A Celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act

Join Us to Celebrate the 36th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act: City of Boston ADA Day 2026 on July 15th!

This year marks the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – the historic civil rights law designed to ensure people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as others. It’s no exaggeration to say the ADA has led to transformational change here at the MBTA, in part by serving as the foundation on which the Daniels-Finegold settlement was built. To learn about what’s been accomplished since the ADA was signed and what’s in store for the future, visit MBTA.com/accessibility/history.

With this in mind, we hope you can join us on Wednesday, July 15, as the City of Boston’s Disabilities Commission hosts its annual ADA Day celebration. This popular two-hour lunchtime event brings together people of all ages to honor the landmark civil rights legislation. This year’s theme focuses on recognizing revolutionary disability advocates of the past, present, and future who have paved the way for a more accessible Boston. Attendees will enjoy a brief speaking program, a disability resource fair, food, and plenty of fun!

Please note that this year’s celebration is moving to a brand-new, beautifully renovated space. Join us at Copley Square Park to catch all the action.
