BCIL Trek, Trot & Treat – a Costumed Fun Run for Disability Rights

10/16/2019

To BCIL’s friends,

We are cancelling this year’s Trek, Trot, and Treat, which was to be held on October 27 at UMass Boston, out of respect to Sergio Goncalves, who died last week after a brief illness. Sergio, who was BCIL’s board chairperson for a decade, worked for thirty years in the UMass Athletic Department and helped organize the annual fun run at the school’s facilities.

We are planning a tribute to Sergio’s life and will notify people of the gathering once a site and date are secured. Please reach out to Susan Smith at BCIL, ssmith@bostoncil.org, if you had obtained pledges and want to discuss what to do with the donations.

Sunday, October 27, 2019 BCIL will hold our 3rd Annual BCIL Trek, Trot & Treat – a Costumed Fun Run for Disability Rights.  This family friendly event will be held indoors from 1-3 pm at the UMass Boston Clark Athletic Center – located at 100 William Morrissey Blvd., Boston.

This event will help us to continue our goal of empowering people of all ages, with a wide range of disabilities, with the practical skills and self-confidence to take control over their lives and become active members of the communities in which they live.  BCIL accomplishes this goal through advocacy and community organizing to promote access and change within our society.

How it will work:  You can walk, run, or roll (10 laps = 1 mile) and get family and friends to sponsor you for any amount (per lap or a flat amount) OR BCIL will have a designated runner that you can ask friends and family to contribute to on your behalf.

All runners will receive their own bib number and ribbon!

Click here to print your sponsor page.  Donations can be made via the form below or can be mailed directly to BCIL (60 Temple Place, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02152  Attn: Susan Smith)  All contributions are tax-deductible.
