ADRC

What is ADRC?

The Aging and Disability Resource Consortium is not a place. It is the name of a partnership between independent living centers, Boston Center for Independent Living and several ASAPs; Aging Services Access Points, in the Boston area. As an ADRC partnership, the agencies designed to serve primarily older people and BCIL, serving people with disabilities who are often under age 60, can help people of all ages and abilities who may have questions related to services and resources in the community.

Using the “No Wrong Door” as a guiding principle, ADRC partner agencies offer information, and if necessary referrals to other programs, regardless of age or disability. A referral to an ADRC partner program can be made by any agency staff member if it is determined the caller might be better served in another program. The person being served by ADRC BCIL and the area ASAPs directs the consumer-driven services and is free to refuse any or all services offered.

ADRC, through its many committed programs can pinpoint possible options in unsettling times. Individuals and their loved ones need answers to some difficult questions, such as what to do when you realize your home is not as safe since you developed some balance problems or you need help managing your finances and self-care tasks.

The Aging and Disability Resource Consortium can connect people to programs to help people make decisions based on individual need and choice. Through the Boston area ADRCs (Suffolk County and Greater Boston) and BCIL, callers may find there are many more options than expected to help maintain independence in the community.

Please see the list of ASAPs below, their areas of service, and their contact information for more specific information about any of the Aging Services Access Points in either of the Boston area ASAPs.
